TAFE Queensland is the official training partner to the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games, and as such, our students and staff have the opportunity to apply now to be volunteers at this world-class event.

It’s no secret that TAFE Queensland is passionate about providing quality education and training to each and every one of its students. To be honest, we’re pretty excited to be the official training partner to the GC2018 Games meaning TAFE Queensland will be training the anticipated 15,000 volunteers. And we’re even more excited about what this means for our students and staff.

Volunteer registrations are officially open

Students and staff across TAFE Queensland have the opportunity to have apply as volunteers at the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games. Volunteering at the Games is a once-in-a-lifetime chance to be part of a broad community dedicated to putting Australia’s best foot forward, not only in a sporting sense, but through tourism and hospitality.

Skilled and friendly volunteers are required to play an important role in bringing this event to life. If you’re a TAFE Queensland student or staff member, you have until 5pm on 27 February 2017 to throw your hat into the ring. You can find out all of the details and apply for your exclusive interview code through the  TAFE Queensland website.

A once-in-a-lifetime opportunity

With little more than the ‘500 days to go’ milestone, the wave of excitement is riding high here at TAFE Queensland Brisbane. On Monday 6 February, we were proud to host an event launching the volunteer registrations launch at our South Bank campus.

TAFE Queensland CEO Jodi Schmidt and TAFE Queensland Brisbane General Manager Gary Kinnon were joined by former Olympian Jessicah Schipper OAM to officially open the registrations. Jessicah was kind enough to share some of her first-hand experience with the crowd, as well as offering some hot tips on putting volunteer applications together before mingling with our students and staff and taking selfies with all.

TAFE Queensland will be tailoring a bespoke vocational training program to ensure volunteers possess the wide range of skills required to play an active part in bringing the Games to life on the Gold Coast.

Whether you have just finished school, want new skills or are looking for a new career, TAFE Queensland can help you MAKE GREAT HAPPEN.
